The Cradle for the Cure lacrosse tournament featured more than 20 teams in its third year.
The third-annual Cradle for the Cure lacrosse tournament swept through Flagler County Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2, at Wadsworth Park.
The tournament, which is put on by Matanzas girls lacrosse coach Bill Hanrahan, featured 22 teams this year. Sixteen teams participated in the inaugural tournament three years ago.
Proceeds from the tournament are donated to Passionately Pink for the Cure, which is associated with Susan K. Komen for the Cure.
According to Hanrahan, more than $6,000 has been donated so far.
“Being involved with young women in athletics, we thought it would be a relevant cause,” Hanrahan said.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
One team that participated was the Black Widows, a Flagler County Club team coached by Hanrahan, and which features players from Flagler County and neighboring counties.
