Palm Coast will continue using its red light cameras to issue citations to red-light runners, officials said Tuesday.
Four of the five Palm Coast City Council members agreed at the Nov. 29 workshop that the red light cameras have provided a safety benefit to drivers since being implemented in 2008.
City Councilman Jason DeLorenzo was the only member to suggest no longer using the cameras.
All the revenue collected from citations, which is approximately $19,000 a year, goes directly into the city’s streets improvements fund.
Additionally, more cameras could be added in the future, or existing cameras could be relocated to different intersections.
