+ Weichert Realtors Hallmark Properties announces top agents
Top agents at the Palm Coast office of Weichert Realtors Hallmark Properties, located at 9 Harbor Center Drive, have been announced for October.

Tom Granchelli was named the Top Listing Agent for the month, and the Top Listing Team title went to Micha Kiel and Elena Ropalo.

The Top Sales Agent was Patricia Baron. The Top Sales Team was Patti and Ken Aborn. Paula Worral earned the Top Number of Closings and Top Closed Volume.

+ Austin Outdoor serves at Whispering Meadows Ranch
Austin Outdoor served in two community service projects Nov. 4, bringing more than 25 of its employees together for the company’s bi-annual service project. One leg of the project was conducted at Whispering Meadows Ranch. The other was at a military family’s home.

At Whispering Meadows, Austin employees helped clear paths throughout the ranch’s property, then spread about 36 cubic yards of crushed coquina, donated by Environmental Land Services, over the clearings.

Designer Amanda Wilson designed a new landscape for the military family’s frontyard. Native palms and other foliage, donated by Triple O Nursery, Ava Nursery and Flowing Well Tree Farm, were installed. Call 437-6211.

+ Mobile 1 Sunshine Express wins beautification award
The Mobile 1 Sunshine Express Store, at 220 Palm Coast Parkway, was awarded the city of Palm Coast’s structural beautification award, in the commercial category, at the Palm Coast City Council meeting Nov. 15.

The award was given for the redevelopment of the convenient store location, formerly an Exxon. Jacksonville-based contractor F&G Construction managed the project, incorporating several native plants, keeping the native coquina stone as the station’s prominent feature, and incorporating new shutters and faux windows to blend with the Palm Harbor Shopping Center’s color scheme.

+ Ocean Publishing takes home gold and silver awards
Ocean Publishing entered just two of its books into the 2011 President’s Book Awards conducted annually by the Florida Publishers Association. Both books won awards.

At its ceremony Nov. 5, in Sarasota, the association presented a gold medal for cover design to Ocean Publishing for “Explore the Southeast National Marine Sanctuary with Jean-Michel Cousteau,” which also won the Independent Book Publishers Association’s Benjamin Franklin Award in May. 

A silver medal in the Florida Nonfiction for Adults category was given to “Tracks in the Sand: Sea Turtles and Their Protectors,” by Frank Gromling and Mike Cavaliere. This book examines not only each variety of sea turtles found in Florida, but also the eccentric volunteers who fight to save them. Call 517-1600.

+ Cigar company announces exclusive U.S. cigar deal
M. Misti Cigar Co., which has a regional sales office in Palm Coast, has recently been selected by GBP LLC to be the exclusive national distributor of the award-winning Don Duarte Cigar lines.

Mark Mistie Jr., M. Misti Cigar Co. director, said, “Our performance and expectation is that we will be selling .5 million units this fiscal year. The retail price is anticipated at approximately $8 to $9 dollars at the customer level. This reflects about $4.5 million in retail sales, and as long as we avoid the ‘fad’ factor, this product is here to stay.”
