A pit bull that attacked and killed a smaller Yorkie-mix earlier this month has been euthanized, officials said Tuesday.

Earlier this month, 11-year-old Enzo Castillo was walking his Yorkie-mix, named Brownie, on a leash near his F-section home. Meanwhile, a neighbor, Patrick Morin, was also walking his dog, a pit bull, according to reports.

Brownie barked at the pit bull. The pit bull got loose from Morin and proceeded to bite the Yorkie in the abdomen. Enzo Castillo’s mother, Saira, took Brownie home and then to the veterinarian. However, the dog’s injuries were too severe, and it was put to sleep.

The Nov. 2 attack has riled neighbors. Several neighbors pleaded Tuesday to the Palm Coast City Council. Neighbors say there’s a lot of suspicious activity going on at the house and urged the City Council to take action.

Mayor Jon Netts said he has been in contact with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. He said there is no evidence of illegal activity taking place at the home at 4B Farraday Lane.

According to city officials, the Flagler Humane Society notified the city last week that the pit bull was voluntarily given up to be euthanized.
