Crews made good progress on the Espanola fire yesterday.

Taking advantage of the aggressive air attack performed by tankers, as well as rain from afternoon thunderstorms, crews were able to continue squaring up fire perimeters and widening fire lines Saturday, June 18. The eastern and southern sides of the fire showed the most improvement.

Saturday’s afternoon’s storms produced four new fires; however, all were quickly contained. Today mop-up crews are continuing their work on the White Eagle fire as well as other active fires in Flagler County.

Flagler County Fire Rescue, the Bunnell Fire Department, the Palm Coast Fire Department and the Flagler Beach Fire Department have cooperatively established three Task Forces on standby for initial attack operations.
