The Flagler/Palm Coast Kiwanis Club recognized the unsung heroes and heroines of Flagler County law enforcement Wednesday, June 8, at the monthly luncheon.

Frank Constentino, event organizer, thanked the deputies for their quick responses when he has personally needed their expertise.

Mary Giannotto
From the Bunnell Police Department, Mary Giannotto, assistant to the chief, was honored.

Lt. Randy Burke said Giannotto has been an integral part of helping the police department.

Giannotto has supported the officers on the administrative side by streamlining the flow of work. She has also assisted with department grants and has been responsible for implementing community programs, including a community watch and summer youth programs.

David Blank
From the Flagler Beach Police Department, Officer David Blank was honored by Chief Dan Cody.

Blank joined the department in 2005 and has recently taken charge on a case, the handling of which elevated him.

“He has grown to a David I’ve never seen before,” Cody said. “He is doing an excellent job.”

Daniel Weaver
Deputy Daniel Weaver was honored by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Weaver came to the department in 2007 after receiving a bachelor’s of science in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida and a state certification from St. Johns River Community College.

Weaver made 105 arrests in 2010 including narcotics and traffic offenses.

He was recognized in 2010 for an investigation of an armed robbery, which led to the recovery of prescription pills and the apprehension of a dangerous felon, Sheriff Don Fleming told luncheon attendees.
