The following is adapted from a June 7 update from www.FlaglerEmergency.com:

At this time no evacuations are needed. Residents should use this time now to review personal emergency preparedness plans.

The Espanola Fire has burned about 1900 acres and is 30% contained. This is still the largest fire in Flagler County and is located a few miles northwest of Espanola or about 7 to 9 miles west of Palm Coast. This fire was also about 5 miles north of Mondex / Daytona North.

It has been burning very slowly to the west. Some additional spread to the west has occurred on this fire on Wednesday.

This fire is in a rural area of the county and poses no immediate threats to any populated areas. However, it is producing a large smoke plume that will be visible across Flagler County. Drift smoke from this fire may be noted around the county pending wind direction and weather conditions.

The Interstate 95 fire is on the west side of I-95 near the L-Section in Palm Coast. This fire is half an acre and is contained.

A new fire, called the Pellicer Fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon near the St. Johns County Line, about 2 miles west of U.S. 1, or about 2 to 3 miles northwest of northern Palm Coast. Fire crews are on scene.

An additional fire broke out in southern rural Flagler County Tuesday called the Tattoo West Fire; it is 8 acres and not contained. Ground crews are attempting to reach this fire, which is in a remote location.

A few new fires broke out on Monday due to a thunderstorm. The Strawn Fire is located close to the western county line north of County Road 305. This fire is 75 acres and is not contained. Crews are on scene.

The State Road 11 Fire is located near Cody’s Corner is less than half an acre and is contained.

The White Eagle Fire, located near Korona and Seminole Woods remains unchanged at about 120 acres burned. There are lines around this fire, and it remains 80% contained. This is the closest fire to a populated area, and fire crews from Palm Coast remain on scene to work hot spots.

Two other smaller fires are burning in remote northwest Flagler County. One is 52 acres and the other 17 acres. Both of these fires are contained but continue to burn. Crews remain on scene and are conducting mop-up operations.

There are also several smaller fires being monitored by fire crews throughout the county that are fully contained. Fire crews from various agencies including Division of Forestry, Flagler County Fire Rescue and Public Works, Palm Coast, Bunnell, Rayonier Corp. and Flagler Beach, as well as FireFlight, are being deployed to the various fires as needed to conduct suppression activities.

Flagler County Emergency Management is providing logistical support and public information as needed. Additional resources and support have been brought in from neighboring counties.

Smoke and large smoke plumes may be noted and widely seen in the area. Smoke may be quite widespread at times especially during the overnight and early morning hours. Persons driving should be aware of rapidly changing visibilities. Roads may be occasionally closed due to smoke. Please don't call 911 unless you actually see flames outside the lines or a new fire.
