+ Cigarette lighter actually a grenade
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office’ bomb squad was in Flagler County Monday morning to dispose of a hand grenade that had been purchased at an estate sale.

The initial information from Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies in the Hammock Beach area stated a woman had purchased the grenade thinking it was a novelty cigarette lighter.

Deputies said the firing pin had been pulled out and apparently replaced. The bomb squad disposed of the grenade around 1:10 p.m. in an area absent of homes and population. The grenade was found to be filled with concrete and was not a live grenade.

+ Drug bust leads to nine arrests
Three months of undercover operations by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Enforcement Team led to nine arrests last week. The arrest warrants were connected to trafficking and unlawful sale of controlled substances. More are planned, according to a Jan. 31 press release.

The arrests totaled 21 counts and $450,000 in total bond money.

Those arrested and transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility were James Wesley Moore, 22; David Maurice O’Connor, 22; James Robert Bruce, 23; Darrius Delvon Giddens, 22; Joseph Salvatore Marsella, 37; Pavel Krivishey, 25; Luis Gilberto Lugo, 33; Robert Lee Delattre, 67; and Darryl Lanard Green, 39.

Delattre was arrested in December 2010 when detectives located more than 50 pounds of cannabis and several firearms in his home.

Also involved was the Jan. 4 serving of a search warrant at 310 Palm Coast Parkway N.E., Apt 204.

Investigators had previously purchased oxycodone pills from the residence.

Oxycodone, hydrocodone, and alprazolam (Xanax) pills were located at the residence.
