The city of Bunnell is joining the buy-local initiative. The city recently announced the first Buy Bunnell Campaign, an initiative of the Community Redevelopment Agency designed to stimulate local spending and create awareness on the goods and services available in the city.

As the first edition of the initiative, residents are asked to collect eight receipts for at least $7 each from locally owned and operated businesses between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31. Shoppers should then turn in the valid receipts by Feb. 7, at city offices in the Government Services Building, for a chance to win dinner for two on Valentine's Day.

The press release from the city states: "Businesses get the opportunity to increase their sales and monitor where the locals like to shop, which will help them develop initiatives to attract customers to their location."

Merchants can participate by donating a tax-deductible gift certificate to the city of Bunnell to be redeemed by the winner at their location on the selected holiday.
