A group of ladies lined up across from each other on the dance floor, Saturday, Dec. 3, at the second Renaissance Christmas Ball. Their handmade Renaissance dresses flowed with the rhythm of the rigodon, a Baroque dance.

The dance was chorography by queen-for-the-night Ophie Cordero and one of several performances at the ball, which was held at the Portuguese American Cultural Center.

Performances were also made by the Rancho Folclórica Coração de Portugal, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Choir, Odette Paquin and Allan Alday.

“I think there is one day out of the whole year that we can turn back the clock and ladies can be ladies and men can be men and look beautiful,” said Cris Sheynon, main organizer of the event.

Sheynon, who used to belong to a historical re-enactment club, said she fell in love with that period and wanted to share it with everyone.
