Registration is open for the 13th Annual Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12. Volunteers on foot or in boats remove trash from city saltwater canals, the Intracoastal, and area trails, according to a city of Palm Coast news release.

Volunteers will submit pictures of trash they collect through their registration link, where it will be judged virtually for awards to most pounds collected and most unique find. There won't be a reception this year, but volunteer will be notified of results afterward.
Trash can be placed in dumpsters at select city parks and under the toll bridge.
Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, trash bags, gloves, mask and safety sheet, which can be picked up contactless at the Community Center at 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8, 9, and 11. Please call when in the parking lot at 386-986-2323.
Students and youth groups can get community service hours by volunteering: Supervisors should contact event staff members Jordan Myers or Denise Bevan to have their forms signed.
Since the city's first event in 2008, volunteers have collected more than 20,000 pounds of trash, averaging about 2,000 pounds per year. The Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup is supported by a $5,000 Florida Inland Navigation District grant.
Flagler Sportfishing Club tournament fundraiser will benefit Disabled American Veterans
The Flagler Sportfishing Club will raise money for Chapter 86 of Disabled American Veterans during the club's annual fishing tournament this year, according to a DAV Chapter 86 news release.
The fundraiser will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 21 during the tournament's opening ceremony at the Palm Coast Social Club, 51 Old Kings Road, which will be operating under CDC health guidelines.
It will feature a silent auction and raffle with more than 50 gifts from area businesses. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The money raised will help support the DAV chapter's operating expenses, including maintaining its offices, according to the news release.
"The DAV has been especially hard hit during these times — rides are not readily available for trips to the doctor, volunteers cannot help vets with applying for benefits, and the list goes on," DAV Representative Sarah Ulis wrote in an email to local media. "Even the annual fundraiser that the local chapter of the DAV in Palm Coast has had to be postponed and possibly cancelled altogether. These funds are desperately needed, and we are so grateful that a local concern, the Flagler Sportfishing Club, has stepped up to help us out."
