Happy 80th birthday, Julieta

Julieta Ponce de Leon celebrated her 80th birthday with a party on June 17 at Mother Seton Hall. Many members of the local Philippine community gathered to ring in this occasion.

Matanzas graduate performs at Flagler Playhouse

Collin Sloan, a recent graduate from Matanzas High School, will be in a show titled “Speech and Debate” with fellow Spotlight Performers at the Flagler Playhouse. The show will run from June 22 to 25. For more information, contact The Spotlight Performers at 860-878-8752.

Congratulations, Commander Ditolla

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office District 2 Commander Gerald Ditolla graduated from the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Commanders Academy on June 9, along with 29 other Florida Sherrif's employees. The academy is a two-week course that helps train the next generation of public safety leaders. 

Florida Hospital Flagler wins Business Recognition Award

Flagler Schools has chosen Florida Hospital Flagler as the district winner of the 2017 Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award, which recognizes businesses for their vast contributions to public education in Florida. Representatives from Florida Hospital Flagler accepted the award in Orlando on Wednesday, June 14.

'Water Buoys' earn national championship

For the second year in a row, the City of Palm Coast’s “Water Buoys” team won the Top Ops National Championship of the American Water Works Association. The Palm Coast Utility Department’s team was made up of Fred Greiner, Jim Hogan, Tom Martens and Peter Roussell. They defeated 17 other teams from across the United States and Canada to earn the national championship at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition in Philadelphia this week.
