“The Dance of Life,” the Flagler County Art League's latest exhibit, opened Dec. 14 and will continue through Jan. 7.

Entrants were challenged to come up with their own personal interpretations of dance, and many came through with creative takes on the art form — including an abstract painting by Dora Wacker, which won Best of Show. Wacker's style in the piece is reminiscent in its energy of a work by Jackson Pollack.

“I can feel the mood of a free spirit dancing with a frenzy of movement,” said the judge, Joan Dorrill, of St Augustine.

In addition, during the opening reception and prior to the awards ceremony, three young dancers from Mia Bella Academy performed ballet for the crowd.
