Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, to reports of an apparent suicide at the Hammock Dunes Bridge.

Jane Allen, 50, of 3 Oakmont Court, was discovered lying in the grass between the sidewalk and the parking lot on the west side of Palm Harbor Parkway, about 50 feet south of the entrance to European Village.

Three minutes later, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, fire and rescue personnel arrived and treated the patient. A witness said he observed Allen standing alone on the outside of the railing with her arms out to her side, perpendicular to her body. Then, Allen fell.

Another witness told deputies that it appeared Allen was acting intentionally.

Palm Harbor Parkway was shut down temporarily to allow a medical helicopter to land, but ultimately, officials decided to transport her by ground to Florida Hospital Flagler.

Allen was pronounced dead at 7:44 p.m. Saturday, April 16.
