The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is now headquartered from a small building off a narrow winding road in Bunnell — address: 1001 Justice Lane — but it won't be much longer.
The county is moving the Sheriff's Office to the old Memorial Hospital building, a 66,000-square-foot structure in Bunnell that will have to be gutted and rebuilt to accomodate the change.
The county jail, which has been so overcrowded that the state has threatenend to take it over, will also be expanded. The expansion project is budgeted for more than $12 million.
