A 76-year-old Daytona Beach man was killed Monday while riding a scooter on U.S. 1, in Flagler County, after a Palm Coast Waste Pro pickup truck collided with the scooter, according to state troopers.
The man driving the scooter, a 2006 Suzuki Burgman, was traveling northbound on State Road 5 in the outside lane around 3:16 p.m. Monday, the report states. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The driver of the 2007 Chevrolet 2500 Waste Pro maintenance pickup truck was stationary at a Hess gas station, and then crossed the lanes to head southbound. While attempted the cross over the northbound lanes, the scooter ran into the driver’s side of the pickup truck.
The man on the scooter was ejected upon impact and was killed, according to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Alcohol was not related for the driver of the pickup truck, who didn’t sustain any injuries; alcohol involvement is pending for the man on the scooter.
