Vote Nov. 8; candidates file finances

As of Tuesday, Nov. 1, the four City Council candidates have raised a total of $23,180.38.

The four Palm Coast City Council candidates have been busy waving at passersby on the roads and greeting potential supporters during early voting at the Flagler County Library, in the final push toward Election Day, which will be Nov. 8.

According to the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections, as of Oct. 31, 1,627 people have voted in the City Council races in early voting at the library.

The most active day was Oct. 24, the first day of early voting, when 278 people voted. The least active day was Oct. 29, when 123 votes were cast.

For the 2011 city primary, a total of 1,714 early votes were cast — representing 3.46% voter turnout. Approximately 5,246 votes were cast for the primary in total, or 10% of all registered voters in Palm Coast.

The candidates also filed their latest campaign contributions reports with the Florida Division of State for the two-week period spanning Oct. 1 to Oct. 14.

In the District 1 race, incumbent Holsey Moorman reported $730 in total monetary contributions for the period. To date, Moorman has collected $8,395, the most among the four candidates.

Since Jan. 1, Moorman has also received contributions from 104 individuals, the most of any candidate.

District 1 challenger Bill McGuire reported collecting $250 for the latest two-week period. McGuire has collected a total of $2,456.

Among the top donors for McGuire’s campaign was the Flagler County Republican Club, which contributed $100.

For the same time period, District 3 candidate Jason DeLorenzo collected contributions of $1,655, increasing his total to $7,410.38.

DeLorenzo had 14 donors for the Oct. 1 to Oct. 14 time period — the most of any of the candidates. Among the contributors was Waste Pro, which contributed $500 Oct. 11. (For more on this donation, see “Our View,” Page 6.)

Other DeLorenzo contributors of note are RHS Mechanical, which donated $500, GoToby.com at $440, Chiumento and Associates at $305, Charles Rinek Construction at $150 and Barbara Revels at $25.

District 3 competitor Dennis Cross reported total monetary contributions of $200. Cross’ total stands at $4,919. He had one contributor this period.

In total, the four Palm Coast City Council candidates have collected $23,180.38 as of Tuesday, Nov. 1. Combined, the four candidates have spent $16,074.61.

Moorman has the highest expenditures, totaling $5,163.69.

The City Council election will take place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at six locations within the city.

Palm Coast residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinion in the Palm Coast General Election 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at any of the following six locations:

Palm Coast Community Center — 305 Palm Coast Parkway N.E.
Matanzas High School — 3535 Old Kings Road
Belle Terre Elementary School — 5545 Belle Terre Parkway
