Visit the Palm Coast Arts Foundation's nine turtles to celebrate World Turtle Day

On World Turtle Day, May 23, we celebrate these remarkable reptiles and raise awareness about the American Tortoise Rescue — a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect turtles and tortoises all around the world.

As part of the public sculpture campaign started in May 2018, the Palm Coast Arts Foundation encourages residents and visitors to find all the turtles on The Turtle Trail, at the following locations:

1. Claude

Palm Coast Arts Foundation in Town Center, 1500 Central Ave.

Artists: Paul Beaulieu and Tom Anastasio (sponsored by Parkside Realty Group)

2. Tiff

Long Creek Nature Preserve, 1050 Palm Harbor Parkway

Artist: Ron Lace (sponsored by the late Fred Allen and Beth Allen with Terri and Rafael Medina)

3. Marc-Sea

Grand Haven Residential Community, 2001 Waterside Parkway (Call the PCAF office for access to this gated community: 386-225-4394.)

Artist: Paul Beaulieu (sponsored by Dr. Mark Vogel)

4. Pablo

Old Kings Elementary School, 301 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach

Artists: Flagler Palm Coast High School Art Club with input/direction of the Art Club of Old Kings Elementary School (sponsored by G. Lindsey Florence)

5. Nadia

Palm Coast City Hall 160 Lake Ave.

Artist: J.J. Graham (This Degas inspired turtle was sponsored by an anonymous donor.)

6. Quilty

Corner of Waterfront Park Drive and Colbert Lane

Artist: Bettie Eubanks (based on 1700s historical quilter Betty White, sponsored by Pat and Bill Verhagen)

7. Garfield

Palm Coast Historical Society, 18 Florida Park Drive N. (in Holland Park)

Artist: Andy Sovia (sponsored by Kathy Reichard-Ellavsky)

8. Bessie

Flagler Beach Historical Museum, 207 S. Central Ave., Flagler Beach

Artist: Eric and Helene Bess (sponsored by Flagler County Tourism Development)

Turtles 9 (Vincent, artist: Janice Jackson; sponsored by Patti and Dave Paukovich) and 10 (Nancy Marie, artist: Bob Teller; sponsored by Dr. Mery Gable) are ready for their installation and unveiling in the coming weeks.

Two more turtles are in the concept phase: 11 (Winged Victory; artist: Christine Broussard and sponsored by The John W. Kurtich Foundation for Study and Research) and 12 (See Turtle sponsored by Tomoka Eye, artist: TBD).
