Malcolm P. Clevenstine, whose injuries were rated as "critical" in the original report by the Florida Highway Patrol, is now marked as "fatal" in an updated press release sent on March 22. He was pronounced dead at 11:33 p.m. March 21.
Richard Carrara's injuries have been rated as "minor." In the original report, his injuries were described as incapacitating.

Palm Coast resident Richard Carrara, 73, was piloting a plane that crashed into a retention pond embankment in Palatka Friday morning, leaving him with incapacitating injuries and critically injuring a passenger, 71-year-old Palm Coast resident Malcolm P. Clevenstine, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Carrara told investigators he was trying to gain altitude from a touch and go landing at nearby Kay Larkin Airport when the Cessna 400’s engine stalled, according to the FHP report.
The plane crashed into a retention pond behind a Lowe's Home Improvement store near the intersection of State Road 19 and State Road 100 at 10:53 a.m., according to the report.
Carrara and Clevenstine were taken to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were contacted, and an FAA investigator was en route to the crash when the FHP released its report on the incident Friday afternoon.
