ORIGINAL STORY
As of 1 p.m. Monday, the Durrance Fire was 85% contained, according to Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito.

Flagler County continues to command the fire, and crews were working early Monday morning to water hot spots.

The official size was 1,100 acres, but crews were scheduled to be on the ground around the fire with GPS units to get exact size measurements. Petito expects the size of the fire to increase when the next update is released around 3 p.m.

“It’s pretty well contained right now,” Petito said. “We have crews out there right now, and they are hitting a couple hot spots. They aren’t worried about it getting out.”

Petito said wind gusts in excess of 40 mph caused the fire to quickly get out of control Saturday afternoon.
