Trio of thieves arrested after deputies thwart car burglaries

Three males who allegedly arrived at Ralph Carter Park with the intention to burglarize as many vehicles as they could were arrested on Saturday, Aug. 11, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies in the area were conducting directed patrols on Red Mill Drive when they observed two males run across the street. They stopped them on Rymfire Drive as they were attempting to leave the area and return to their car parked at the park.

During a search of the area, deputies uncovered gloves, a digital camera, a “female wallet” and on Nike flip flop. Further investigation of the area revealed another “female wallet” and the matching Nike flip flop, leading deputies to believe that at least one other suspect was still in the area.

After setting up a perimeter, another male was spotted exiting the wood line on Red Mill Drive who was barefoot.

The suspects were identified as 16-year-old Angelo Landry, 18-year-old Wayne Williams and 19-year-old Willie Green.

Landry, who is from DeLand, was arrested for felony burglary and criminal attempt to conspire. He was released to his parents after the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice refused to hold him in detention.

Williams, of Bunnell, and Green, also of DeLand, were both arrested for felony burglary. They are being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on $3,000 and $5,500 bond, respectively.

All three suspects agreed to identify each of the vehicles they attempted to burglarize and all the stolen property was returned to the owners.

“They thought they could creep around in the middle of the night, steal people’s property and get away with it,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. “But, unfortunately for them, we are always watching our neighborhoods and you are not going to just be able to hide in the woods. Let this be a lesson to thieves everywhere that want to prey on our hardworking residents; if you run from our deputies you will just go to jail tired... and possibly shoeless.”
