Wow.
I can’t believe another year is coming to a close.
But I guess if there’s a consolation for another year coming to an end, it’s that there is a lot of football about to kick off in the coming weeks.
As I did last year, I have picked winners for the BCS bowl games, as well as two games with Florida teams.
I’m excited to see what happens in the Ohio State vs. Florida game.
There are a lot of expectations in Gainesville after two below average seasons. Ex-Gators coach Urban Meyer will take over Ohio State next season, and the Buckeyes will also be ineligible for a bowl game next season because of NCAA violations. I think this is a bowl game that features two mediocre teams, but should provide a lot of entertainment.
As for the national championship game, well that is a toss-up.
One thing is for certain: An SEC team will win another national championship, making it six in a row for the conference.
But after a 9-6 game between LSU and Alabama earlier this season, there’s really no way to tell what’s going to happen.
However, I have picked Alabama. I think the Crimson Tide’s defensive balance, as well as its power running game and capable play at quarterback, gives them the advantage. Of course, LSU coach Les Miles will pull something out of his sleeve at some point in the game.
With that said, I want to thank all of you for reading my column this past year. It’s been a great year for me and for the team here at the Palm Coast Observer.
