Teens-In-Flight has planned a unique fundraiser for the victims of the Century Movie Theater shooting.

On Aug. 22, piloted by Col. Jack Howell, co-pilot Cherileigh Dawson, and accompanied by Teens-In-Flight student Cora Jo Rand, a single engine aircraft will take off from the Flagler County Airport with a destination of Aurora, Colo.

Similar to a Walk-A-Thon, the Fly-A-Thon encourages people to pledge $2 per mile of the trip. The total flight miles are 1,310.

"People can pledge from one mile to the entire trip," said Howell. "We want this to be seen as a gesture of caring from our county to the victims of this terrible shooting."

There will be a kickoff party 7-9 p.m. Aug. 21, at the Flagler County Airport Fire Station. Attendees will be able to meet the flight crew and view the flight route.

This fundraising effort is being supported with the assistance of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office,Flagler County Fire Rescue, 4 Star Aero Services, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates, Class A Graphics, A-Cent Aviation Colorado, and the AmVet riders from AmVet Post 113.

Donations by check or money order can be sent to the organization at 23 Felwood Lane, Palm Coast, FL 32137, or via PayPay at http://teens-in-flight.com/donations.html.
