On May 24, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Palm Coast Parkway to investigate a possible stolen vehicle from Georgia.

Deputies observed a gray Jeep Cherokee traveling South on Belle Terre Parkway and attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and sirens activated that the driver, later identified as Gregory Gilmore, ignored.

Deputies attempted to deploy stop sticks on the stolen vehicle when the car traveling in front of the stolen vehicle came to an abrupt stop, causing Gilmore to stop as well before striking the stop sticks. Deputies then conducted a felony traffic stop and gave verbal commands to Gilmore instructing him to exit the vehicle. Gilmore cooperated and was arrested without further incident.

“This is another great example of how the technology we have implemented in the last four years can lead to the recovery of stolen property and help apprehend criminals before they can prey on our community,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “I commend our deputies who used their training to successfully arrest this car thief without any injuries. To other criminals who are thinking they can commit crimes in other states and hide out in Flagler County, think again, we will find you and you will go to jail.”

Gregory Gilmore was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and charged with one count of Grand Theft of an Automobile. He is being held on a $2,500.00 bond.
