Michael Ellison is on a mission to reach those in need in Bunnell and Palm Coast through education, life skills and spirituality.

Ellison is the pastor of King of Kings Faith Christian Center in Bunnell. He planted the ministry in 2008 and has grown its outreach programs ever since.

“Teach one to reach one — or to reach the world,” he said. “That’s our motto; that’s what we do.”

While Ellison’s ultimate goal is “winning souls to the Kingdom,” he said it’s important to first focus on education and outreach.

Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University and Daytona State College have helped supply the ministry with books from their libraries, computers and other supplies, all of which is for locals to use at the church, located at 4601 E. Moody Blvd., Unit I-5, Bunnell.

“You have to get them to trust who they are because how are they going to trust in a God they can’t see if they can’t even deal with themselves?” Ellison said. “We educate them, then we bring in the spiritual side, and it really works.”

The church also holds a food pantry every two weeks where upwards of 120 families take home pantry and meat items they need, said Ellison.

Catherine McDaniel, who has lived in Palm Coast for 19 years, said she loves to help the ministry by donating her time to the pantry and working in many capacities at the church.

“My greatest hope is to relay that there is hope,” McDaniel said. “You don’t want people to worry. (The church) creates a spirit of hope.”

King of Kings is looking to expand with a community center that would house about 30 outreach programs at a new Bunnell location. Ellison expects the community center to open in 2018.
