A Palm Coast man was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center by helicopter Friday after his car was T-boned by a tractor-trailer at the intersection of County Roads 305 and 302, in Flagler County, according to state troopers.

Merl Arbogast, 81, of Palm Coast, was traveling westbound on County Road 302 in a 2001 Suzuki Esteem when he entered the intersection into the path of a southbound Peterbilt tractor-trailer, resulting in a T-bone collision.

The driver of the truck, Robert Jordan, 58, of Pine Hill, Ala., was not injured, according to the FHP report. Arbogast suffered serious injuries.

Southbound traffic was diverted for nearly two hours as troopers conducted an investigation.

The FHP report stated both men were wearing seat belts and there was no alcohol involved in the crash.
