A Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Special Investigations Unit deputies raided two homes on East Booe Street March 26, arresting two men on drug-related charges and seizing drugs, cash and a firearm owned illegally by a convicted felon, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

One of the men, 28-year-old Wiley Rafael Jones, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest after a Sheriff’s Office confidential source bought 7.7 grams of marijuana from him for $25 on March 2. The transaction took place at his home at 406 E. Booe Street and was recorded on video.

Because the purchase was within 1,000 feet of Eddie Johnson Park, at 401 E. Booe Street, a deputy wrote in a report, there was probable cause that the drug sale also violated a law barring the sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a municipal park.

Deputies found Jones, a convicted felon, in possession of a Colt Cobra .38 revolver and ammunition, as well as $9,700 cash, drug paraphernalia and 570 grams of cannabis when they searched his home at about 4:42 p.m. March 26.

At the same time, they raided 28-year-old Rudy Emmanuel Hunter’s home at 301 E. Booe Street, seizing marijuana, methamphetamines, a pipe for containing pot residue and a box of Winchester shotgun ammunition.

Like Jones, Hunter was a convicted felon, and his possession of ammunition was illegal.

Jones was charged with one count of selling marijuana, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at a combined $46,000, according to jail records, and he was released on bail.

Hunter was charged with one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a legend drug without a prescription, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

His bond was set at a combined $98,000, according to jail records. He remained incarcerated as of the morning of March 30.
