Charges have been filed against a 19-year-old student after she allegedly lunged over the assistant principal of Flagler Palm Coast High School and started a fight that caused injuries to the staff member.
Victoria Dove and two other female students got into a physical fight Jan. 7, according to a Sheriff's Office report. Four people, including a school resource officer, had to pull the three girls apart as they kicked, punched and pulled each other’s hair, the report said.
The three girls were called into the office of Phyllis Pearson, the school's assistant principal, for mediation. Pearson reported that Dove became increasing agitated during the meeting and began swearing and posturing to fight.
Pearson said she got in front of Dove and asked the other two students to leave the office. Before one of the students left, Dove lunged over Pearson, striking a student with a closed fist and pulling her hair.
As a result, Pearson fell on top of Dove and another student. As Dove attempted to stand, she pushed Pearson. The other student started fighting Dove by pulling her hair.
Pearson suffered “unknown punches from each combatant,” the report says. She suffered injuries to her hip and back area.
Dove was arrested and booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility 8:49 a.m. Tuesday on charges of battery and battery on a school official in connection with the Jan. 7 incident.
