Additional crews from around the state have been called in to help restore power to the 17,000 Florida Power and Light customers who were without power after storms spanning four counties, including Flagler County.

Spokesperson Jackie Anderson said at about 11:15 p.m. that her latest numbers showed 2,000 in Flagler were still without power. That data was last updated at about 9:45 p.m., and she said she likely would not receive more updates until the morning. Brevard County at one point had 8,000 without power. Volusia had 4,000; Seminole had 3,000.

"Safety is a priority," Anderson said. "Customers should stay away from downed power lines and standing water. We're asking customers to call 911 if they see down lines, and be extra careful."

A phone recording made available through the FPL website stated earlier in the day that the outage affected 1,219 customers, but the message did not specify the geographic boundaries of that customer pool. The message continued: "Additional resources are necessary to restore your power. We estimate your power will be back on by 10:15 p.m." In at least some areas of the B-section in Palm Coast, the power was restored by then.

FPL's website says to call 1-800-4-OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243) to report a hazardous condition such as a wire down. It continues: "Please stay away from downed power lines and always assume that they are energized and dangerous."
