St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church will host a program designed to guide readers through the Bible in 90 days. Using the recommended New International Version Bible and following the reading plan, participants will read 12 pages a day and finish in 90 days.

“The Bible is important because it tells the story of God’s love for God’s people throughout the generations, yet few of us have actually read it from cover-to-cover,” said the Rev. Pam Northrup, of St. Mark. “I’ve tried a couple of times to read the complete Bible and failed. It wasn’t until I was in a small group committed to this task that I was able to actually complete this goal. It’s not easy, but nothing worthwhile usually is.”

Participants in the program will gather with other Bible readers once a week, to ask questions, share insights, and hear a video lecture from a Biblical scholar.

There are two opportunities for the getting started session: 9:45 a.m. or 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22. This session is to pick up materials and receive the reading plan. Reading will start Monday Jan. 23 and conclude April 21.

Seminar groups will meet 6:30 p.m. Sundays at 6:30 pm 4 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. Tuesdays. Groups will be on the same schedule, so participants can move between these times as necessary.

“This is a wonderful way to journey through the seasons of Epiphany, Lent and into the season of Easter,” Northrup said.

Several resources will be available to help meet this challenge: a specially formatted large print NIV Bible, a participant guide, and a colorful commentary. The cost for all three resources is $40 and can be purchased through the church office.

To register for this program and reserve materials, visit the church office 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, at 303 Palm Coast Parkway N.E. or call 445-3420, ext. 10. Emails can be sent to [email protected]. Checks should be made payable to St. Mark and indicate “Bible 90 Days” on the memo line.
