Someone smashed their way into the Sprint store on Palm Coast Parkway early the morning of May 4 and "thoroughly ransacked" it, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies were dispatched to the store at 1030 Palm Coast Parkway — west of Boulder Rock Drive, between Taco Bell and Pet Supermarket — after the store's alarm went off at about 4:05 a.m.

They found the front glass door smashed and the interior ransacked, according to a deputy's report.

Deputies searched for a suspect but didn't find one, and requested that other deputies be dispatched to other cell phone stores in the county. They also notified other area law enforcement agencies of the break-in.

The store's emergency contact arrived, and told deputies that if staff had properly followed the store's protocol, all of the phones should be locked away in a safe.

It wasn't clear by the time a deputy wrote an initial report if anything had actually been stolen. There were surveillance cameras on the store, and a technician was still working to retrieve the video.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
