+ Bulldogs football eliminated from playoff contention
Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs were eliminated from playoff contention Thursday, Oct. 27, after losing to district foe Jacksonville Sandalwood, 47-17, in a must-win game.
The Bulldogs (3-6, 1-3) have battled injury and adversity for most of the season and weren’t able to overcome an early deficit.
+ Matanzas football loses to Nease in district game
The Matanzas Pirates lost to Nease, 27-7, Friday, Oct. 28, despite a 100-yard rushing effort from senior running back Shawn White.
White carried the ball 15 times for 120 yards.
Sophomore QB Al’Kwazi Spencer completed 11 of 21 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Dorian Stanard had three catches for 75 yards and a touchdown.
The Pirates (3-5, 0-4) will host Palatka 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, for senior night and the final district game of the season.
+ Three Pirates runners earn All-Conference honors
The Matanzas High School cross-country teams competed in the St. Johns River Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 22, and David Drumm, Cameron Allen and Hannah Loder all earned All-Conference honors for the Pirates.
Overall, the boys teams finished in third place. The girls team finished fourth.

The Pirates cross-country teams will compete in the district championship Nov. 5, at Pine Ridge High Schools. That will be the first race in the state series. The top four runners in the district advance to the region, and the top six at regionals advance to the state meet.
+ Bulldogs runners finish second, third at Five-Star
The Flagler Palm Coast cross-country teams competed in the Five-Star Conference meet Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Flagler County Fairgrounds.
The boys team finished in second place, while the girls team finished third.
Joseph Alter finished seventh overall for the boys team, in 16 minutes, 58 seconds. Brad Walbert finished eighth overall, in 17 minutes, 6 seconds.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Josie Davis finished 10th overall, with a time of 21 minutes, 35 seconds. Toni Brown finished 13th overall, in 21 minutes, 47 seconds.
+ Admirals top Aeros to win Flagler Roller Hockey title
The Admirals swept the Aeros in two games in the Flagler Roller Hockey Championships, winning the final game, 5-4, Oct. 26, at the Flagler Hockey Rink.
+ Matanzas volleyball falls in semifinals of district tourney
The Matanzas High School volleyball team lost to Ponte Vedra, 3-0, Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the semifinals of the district tournament to end its season.
The Lady Pirates finished with a 10-14 record.
+ FPC volleyball loses to Ponte Vedra in districts
The Flagler Palm Coast High School volleyball team lost to Sandalwood, 3-0, Monday, Oct. 24, in the semifinals of the district tournament to end its season.
The Lady Bulldogs finished with a 5-20 record.
+ Matanzas Pirates boys golf ends season at 8-12
The Matanzas boys golf team finished the season ninth in its district out of 12 teams.
Coach Ray Sykes said his young team will continue to develop.
“I know that sounds poor, but we do have a lot of chances for next year,” Sykes said. “They needed the experience, and they got that this year. The future looks bright.”
The Pirates ended the season with a 8-12 record.
