The 21st-annual Flagler County Fair and Youth Show roped in thousands Wednesday, April 13, through Sunday, April 17, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds.

“I appreciate all the volunteers who pull the fair together and make it a success every year,” said Penny Buckles, manager of Flagler County Fair and Youth Show Inc.

The biggest success, Buckles said, was the livestock show and sale hosted by the Flagler County 4-H and the Bunnell Future Farmers of America.

This year livestock sales raised more money than any year in the past.

“The kids use the sale money for their college finds and to fund their next year’s projects,” Buckles said.

This year, 400 household plants were provided to kids throughout the county to grow and bring back for the horticulture show. Only a handful of them brought the plants back, Buckles said, but the group has high hopes to get youth involved more in the future.

Next year, the 4-H plans to bring the youth radish and cabbage growing divisions back to the fair.
