Some Florida State Parks to reopen on Monday

Beginning Monday, May 4, approximately 80 Florida State Parks and trails will reopen, including some day-use areas and beach access with limited facilities, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced.

Visitors will be asked to practice social distancing by limiting groups to 10 people or less and staying 6 feet apart from other groups. Reopened beach areas will only allow visitors access to active recreation, including walking, jogging, swimming and fishing, according to the announcement. No sunbathing, sitting in chairs, or the usage of canopies or coolers are allowed. Parks will be open from 8 a.m. to sunset. Beach areas will vary per park.

The reopened parks in Volusia and Flagler County in phase one are:

Addison Blockhouse Historic State Park, for cultural preservation only
Bulow Creek State Park, for for active recreation, such as walking and jogging
Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park, for active recreation, such as walking and jogging
Haw Creek Preserve State Park, for active recreation, such as walking and jogging
North Peninsula State Park, for active recreation such as walking, jogging, swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking. Beach hours will follow county's ordinance. (People are not allowed to sunbathe or sit on the beach as this park is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Environmental Protection.)
Washington Oaks State Park, beachside only, for active recreation, such as walking, jogging, swimming and fishing.
