Sidelines: Zac Branning to continue wrestling career at Southestern

Bulldog signings

Zachary Branning, a recent Flagler Palm Coast graduate, will be continuing his wrestling career at Southeastern University in Lakeland. Branning wrestled for two years in high school and finished with a career record of 84-18. His accomplishments include the following: Valdosta Champion, Rotary Champion, Five-Star Conference Champion, district champion, regional champion, state qualifier/state quarterfinalist, along with an undefeated record in dual meets (22-0).

Branning also had a of 47-5 senior record and a 35-match winning streak, and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the state.

Sam Colasanti and George Rosado both signed to play baseball at Thomasville University in Thomasville, Georgia. Colasanti  batted a .390 on the season with a home run and led the team with a .530 OBP.  He also led the team with 16 RBI and tied for team lead with 10 stolen bases.  He also posted a 0.75 ERA on the mound while throwing a no-hitter. 

Rosado had a team leading 13 runs scored and tied for the team lead in triples and was the other player to steal 10 bases.

Surf's up!

Surfers for Autism's sixth-annual First Coast Beach Festival will return to Flagler Beach at 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Flagler Beach Pier.

Nearly 200 children and young adults with autism and related special abilities get to spend the day being pushed into waves by expert instructors. Fundraising efforts, which help fulfill the SFA's mission of bringing life-changing events to as many communities as possible, help fund autism research, awareness and advocacy. Fundraising will be conducted by soliciting local businesses to donate product and services for a raffle and through the sale of event specific T-shirts. Bulldog run

The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldog 5k run/walk will take place during Alumni Weekend at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Town Center.

The event is sponsored by Flagler Palm Coast High School Athletics and Alumni Association, and all proceeds from the event will be used to help provide scholarships for graduating seniors. Let's kick some balls!

Flagler County Kickball League, a league for adult co-eds ages 18 and up, will kickoff Friday, Sept. 11, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds and ball fields in Bunnell. Team fees are $200 and $20 for individuals. For more information, call 443-803-3478.
