Ryan Geary, Trevor Madero and Tyler Taylor won tae kwan do state titles for the 2017-18 tournament year.  They are students at the Karate for Kids school, located at 156 N. Nova Road in Ormond Beach, which is a member of the American Taekwondo Assocation.

Titles are won by competing in many tournaments throughout the year, beginning in July and ending in May. Points are awarded for first, second and third place at these tournaments. At the end of the season, the competitor with the most points in each category wins the state title.

This year Geary, age 11-12, second-degree black belt, won the title for Combat Weapon Sparring. Madero, age 9-10, first-degree black belt, won the title for Sparring and the title for Combat Weapon Sparring. And Taylor, age 11-12, color belt, won the title for Form and the title for Weapons.

The boys will be heading to Atlanta on June 8-9 to compete for Southeastern District titles.
