Sidelines: Lockhart picks up 100th-career win as Matanzas' boys basketball coach

Matanzas boys basketball coach Donald Lockhart picked up his 100th-career victory in the Pirates' 61-38 season-opening win over St. Augustine on Monday, Nov. 27, at St. Augustine High School. The Pirates' Greg Harrison and Greg Layne each picked up double-doubles with Harrison notching a game-high 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds and Layne recording 11 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. In addition, Devin Mathews scored 10 points and pulled down nine boards in the Pirates' win.

Matanzas returns to action against Yulee on Wednesday, Nov. 29, for the Pirates' season-opener.

FPC boys wrestling stomps Atlantic and Sandalwood

The Bulldogs took down Atlantic 72-12 and Sandalwood 68-9 in the Preseason Classic on Nov. 22 at Flagler Palm Coast High School.

FPC boys soccer still winless

The Bulldogs' boys soccer team has dropped its first five games of the season. The Bulldogs' latest loss: a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Bishop Kenny on Monday, Nov. 27, at Bishop Kenny High School. With the game tied 2-2 at the half, FPC was outscored 3-0 in the final period.

Pirates boys soccer drops first game of the season

After starting the season 3-0, the Matanzas boys soccer team suffered its first defeat of the year in a 2-1 loss to Palatka on Monday, Nov. 27, at Palatka High School. Pirates senior Nathan Hubbs scored Matanzas' lone goal of the game.

Bulldogs boys basketball opens preseason 0-2

After FPC lost its first game of the Bulldogs Tip Off Classic 47-39 to Jones on Nov. 21, the Bulldogs played another close contest against a solid Palatka team on Friday, Nov. 24, at home. However, the Bulldogs lost to the Panthers 80-74.

FPC's regular season commences with a home contest against Seabreeze on Thursday, Nov. 30.
