+ Lady Pirates softball to get new look next season
Fresh off the most productive season in school history, the Matanzas High School softball team will look to improve on this season’s success in 2013 — but they will hope to do it in a whole new look.

About two weeks ago, the Matanzas Lady Pirates were announced as one of six winners of the third-annual Dress the Champions contest by Allen Sportswear. The $15,000 grant will provide the Lady Pirates with new uniforms and equipment.

The grant was accepted May 11, said Matanzas coach Sara Novak.

“I’m really excited for our girls,” she said. “Now that we signed and accepted, we will meet again with the company and start designing our new custom uniforms.”
