Monsanto’s last-minute goal lifts FPC past Seabreeze
Nate Monsanto’s diving header with a minute remaining lifted Flagler Palm Coast past Seabreeze with a 3-2 win on Friday night.
It was another crazy finish and comeback win for FPC, which improved to 11-1-1 with the victory.
Seabreeze took an early 1-0 lead after pressing in the first half. FPC’s defense, which has been stellar all season, allowed two first-half goals.
Johnny Osorio was able to pull one back before the first half ended to cut Seabreeze’s lead to 2-1.
FPC was able to turn the tables in the final 40 minutes and control the time of possession. Osorio found the net for his second goal in the 60th minute for the equalizer.
Then, Monsanto connected on a free kick by Steven Dack for the game-winner.
FPC outshout Seabreeze, 12-4.

Walker’s 30 leads FPC past Sandalwood in girls hoops
In a District 1-8A rematch, Flagler Palm Coast knocked off Sandalwood, 73-45, on Friday night.
About a month ago, Sandalwood beat FPC, 65-49.
This time, sophomore point guard Armani Walker took matters into her own hands — like she has done all season — scoring a game-high 30 points to go along with 13 rebounds, seven assists and eight steals.
FPC outscored Sandalwood 25-8 in the first quarter, and the Lady Bulldogs never looked back. Ivana Boyd nearly had a double-double, too, dropping 19 points, grabbing nine rebounds and snatching two steals.
FPC (12-4) will play its final district game of the season against Mandarin 7 p.m. Wednesday, at home.
Bowens’ double-double helps FPC rout Seabreeze
Senior big man Dustin Bowens dropped 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds on Saturday, leading Flagler Palm Coast to a 67-38 win over Seabreeze.
Willie Gardner scored eight points to go with five blocks, five rebounds and three assists. Nysean Giddens had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Vasconcellos named SwimOutlet.com’s December Swimmer of the Month
Carolyne Vasconcellos, a former standout swimmer at Flagler Palm Coast and for the Flagler County Synchro Belles, was named SwimOutlet.com’s Swimmer of the Month for December by USA Synchro.
Vasconcellos is a freshman at the University of Incarnate Word, based in San Antonio. She is majoring in nutrition at UIW and swims for The UIW Cardinals.
Vasconcellos will receive a $50 gift certificate from SwimOutlet.com for her achievement.
“I’m so thankful, and it feels so good to be recognized for all my hard work,” Vasconcellos wrote in a text message. “I couldn’t have gotten to where I am without my mom’s help. She dealt with me for 12 years, and I’m so thankful for her.”
PAL baseball signups to take place until Jan. 23
Registration for the Flagler Police Athletic League baseball season is open until Jan. 23. Registration is $45.
Register online at FlaglerCountyPAL.org or at the PAL office, 5400 E. State Road 100, next to Flagler Palm Coast, in the old School Board building. Evening registration will take place from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 9 and Jan. 23, at the PAL office.
Registration open for Palm Coast’s 10-mile/5K run
Kick off the New Year in a healthy way by walking or running in the city of Palm Coast’s first Waterfront 10 Mile/5K Run Saturday, Jan. 19.
The races will begin at 8 a.m., at Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Park Road. A kid’s Fun Run (free for children 6 and under) will start at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is now under way.
The Waterfront Run will be the fourth of 10 races in this year’s Palm Coast Running Series. First-place prizes will be awarded to overall male and female winners, with first-, second- and third-place awards also in 15 age categories. The races will be chip-timed.
Fees for early registration are $30 for 10 Mile/$25 for 5K, with a $20 student rate (ages 18 and younger).
Veterans with military ID receive free entry. Register online at www.palmcoastgov.com/waterfrontrun through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15; or in person by Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Palm Coast Community Center, 350 Palm Coast Parkway N.E., Palm Coast, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In-person registration will be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 16-17, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Palm Coast Community Center, 350 Palm Coast Parkway N.E., and on race day beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Waterfront Park, with a registration fee of $35 for 10 Mile/$30 for 5K. Students (ages 18 and younger) are $20, and veterans with military ID receive free entry.
Packet pick-up will be available at the Community Center from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18. Tech shirts and goody bags are guaranteed to those who pre-register. Refreshments are provided to all participants. Awards ceremonies will be held after each race at Waterfront Park.
