The girls soccer teams for Matanzas and Flagler Palm Coast both began their seasons Wednesday night in a preseason tournament held at Flagler Palm Coast High School.
Because a team dropped out at the last-minute, FPC coach Pete Hald had to improvise. Hald made it so that each team played two 40-minute games.
FPC went 0-1-1, losing to Hagerty, 1-0, and tying crosstown Matanzas, 0-0.
Matanzas went 1-1-0, defeating Spruce Creek, 1-0, to go along with the draw against FPC.
The five teams also played two more games on Thursday night.
Both Matanzas and FPC will begin their regular season next week.
