The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has deemed the death of 44-year-old Faith Lorraine Cummings on Point Pleasant Drive Jan. 11 "suspicious," according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

The Sheriff's Office dispatch center got a medical call at the home at about 8 a.m. Jan. 11 and dispatched paramedics, who arrived and declared Cummings dead.

Her husband, 46-year-old Michael Cummings, was at the house and said that his wife might have fallen after taking a shower.

But, "due to the circumstances surrounding the death," the Sheriff's Office, the medical examiner and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Scene Unit are all conducting an investigation, according to the news release.

“At this point, it is a death investigation,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. “We’re taking all of the necessary steps so that if this does turn into a criminal investigation, we will have a thorough understanding of the entire area in order to prosecute any potential suspects. The best case scenario is that this turns out to be a medical issue and there is no foul play. Only the ongoing investigation can determine that.”

Michael Cummings has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice: He was asked to leave the home multiple times so that detectives could investigate, but he refused, according to the news release.
