Sanitary sewer overflows may affect school bus stops in Flagler County, according to a news release from Flagler Schools.

The city of Palm Coast was still trying to identify all of those areas as of Friday, Oct. 6, and warned the school district that school bus stops may be affected.

The overflows, which are within Palm Coast, are being cleaned up by city crews that are disinfecting the affected areas.

The cleanup process involves lime, and residents have been asked to avoid areas where they see it.

“If you see lime, which looks like white flour, on the ground and/or a sign that reads ‘Possible Contaminated Water,’ avoid that area,” a city news release states.

The school district stated in a news release that it would relay safety information to students, and that bus drivers are checking the conditions of stops and may roll stops to areas that are safer and drier if needed.

In western areas of the county, officials will be monitoring for flooding of roads and bus stops from rainfall over the weekend.

Any changes to bus routes will be announced at flaglerschools.com and the school district's social media accounts.
