The Flagler County School District has approved its lowest millage rate since the 2008-2009 school year.

This year, property owners will pay $7.442 of every $1,000 in taxable value. Last year, they paid $7.94, district officials said in a Tuesday public hearing.

With the adopted millage rate, the district will spend an approximately $3,709 on each of its 12,765 students, down from $4,150 per student last year.

About 64% of the money in the district’s general fund will go to direct K-12 instruction, and the district has budgeted about $92,486,000 for the 2013-2014 school year, according to the district’s 2013-2014 Final Fiscal Year Budget.
