The anonymous tipster whose information helped lead police to the suspect in the Zuheily Rosado murder case has received a $5,000 award from Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida.

The tip led investigators to Joseph Bova II, a young man who was living out of his vehicle in Boca Raton when police found him.

"The information provided by the tipster in this case proved to be invaluable," Sheriff James L. Manfre said in a news release. "Had it not been for Crime Stoppers and the generosity of its supporters, this case might have stalled as many of these types of killings often do and eventually gone cold. We are extremely fortunate to have Crime Stoppers in our community and of the partnership that we have with them.”

Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida used to have upper payout limit of $1,000 for homicide cases.

But after Rosado was killed execution-style Feb. 21, 2012 as she worked in a Mobile gas station on State Road 100, the group’s board members voted to raise the payout to $5,000.

The payout to the Rosado murder case tipster was processed Tuesday, Oct. 8, and is the largest in the group’s history.

Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit volunteer organization supported by donations and the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund, which is administered by the Attorney General of Florida and funded through the $20 court costs assessed in all criminal cases in Volusia, Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties.

Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida has received more than 2,725 anonymous tips leading to 254 arrests and the recovery of more than $1 million in property within the last year, according to the news release.

The Crime Stoppers Hotline number is 888-277-TIPS (8477). It is is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
