The Gargiulo Art Foundation will open its Bicycle Art and Poetry Show 6-9 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Hollingsworth Gallery, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, 209-210B.

The show is made possible by a grant from the city of Palm Coast and will lead into the city’s third-annual Bicycle Tour de Palm Coast scheduled for Saturday, July 21.

Tom Gargiulo, president and CEO of the foundation, got the idea for the show from an article in the Smithsonian Magazine about a town of 700 people with one art gallery, an arts center and a 60-mile bicycle trail. The town swells to more than 7,000 people on a weekend.

“We have a lot more than that in Palm Coast,” Gargiulo said. “I hope that this show will draw more people to City Marketplace and to Palm Coast.”

In addition to local artists exhibiting in the show, there are also two well-known out-of-town artists: sculptor Harry Messersmith and painter Jean Banas. The show will hang all month, and an encore reception will be held 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.
