Daniel Floyd, 24, was held at gunpoint at his home in the B-section, before striking back.

Three men kicked in the front door at a B-section home the morning of Monday, Oct. 3. They held the residents of the home, Daniel Floyd and Susan Rogers, at gunpoint and searched the home for drugs, according to a report from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Tre Quan Cobb, 18, of Louisiana Drive in Palm Coast, threatened Rogers, saying he didn’t want to hurt her, but he would if he had to, according to the report.

Further investigations revealed that the three suspects were actually searching for Floyd’s roommate, Brian Epshteyn. He wasn’t home at the time, so the three men left.

As they were leaving, however, Floyd armed himself with his 9 mm handgun and fired a shot. The bullet grazed the back of Cobb’s head, causing him to fall face-first onto the driveway. The other two men got in a white van and drove away, while Floyd held Cobb at gunpoint while Rogers called 911.

As multiple law-enforcement agencies searched for the white van, Belle Terre Elementary and Indian Trails Middle schools were put on lockdown. Thirty minutes later, the two men in the white van were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, Cobb was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center. He was then transferred to Florida Hospital Flagler, where he was still receiving treatment Tuesday. Cobb is facing one charge of armed burglary.

The other two men were also charged. Antonio Hudson, 20, of New Smyrna Beach, is charged with armed burglary and aggravated assault. He was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility.

David A. Pope, 16, of Brelyn Place in Palm Coast, was charged with armed burglary. He was transported to the Division of Youth Services in Daytona Beach.

The intended target
The three would-be burglars never got Epshteyn, but narcotics detectives from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested him Tuesday afternoon on a felony warrant, charging him with the sale of marijuana.

Epshteyn, 25, was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility with a $25,000 bond on the charge. He is being held without bond on a separate warrant for violation of probation.

Detectives confiscated more than $2,700 in cash from the trunk of Epshteyn’s Toyota. The cash included money that had been used by the narcotics detectives to make a recent marijuana purchase from Epshteyn. Detectives said Epshteyn had been dealing drugs from his vehicle, and they confiscated the vehicle Tuesday.

Epshteyn’s roommates are not being connected to his drug-dealing operation, according to detectives.
