Flagler County School District students will likely get a full week off for Thanksgiving again in 2020, plus two days off for elections.

Three hurricane makeup days — the week of Thanksgiving — are built into the proposed schedule for the coming school year, which School Board members are expected to review and vote on later this month.

The proposed 2020-2021 instructional calendar has the first day of school for students as Aug. 10, a Monday, and the last day as May 22, 2021. Teachers would start the previous Tuesday and stay one day later.

The first semester would end just before winter break, which would be two weeks, starting on Dec. 21, 2020 (Dec. 22 for teachers) and ending on Jan. 4, 2021.

Because schools will be polling locations for the primary and general elections this coming year, the proposed calendar gives students a full day off on Nov. 3, 2020, and Aug. 18, which would be professional learning days for teachers. Spring break would be March 15-19, 2021, followed by a teacher work day on March 22.
