NEW SMYRNA BEACH — The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs (1-0) were supposed to take on the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas (1-0) at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex on the night of Friday, Sept. 1.

Mother nature had her own plans, however.

Just before the opening kick at 7 p.m., radars detected lightning in the area. A few minutes later, teams and fans alike took shelter as rain began to fall and lightning cracked across the sky.

After an hour of intense rain and lightning, the referees decided to postpone the game, which will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the same location.
