A 48-year-old Bunnell man died Jan. 11, after he allegedly forgot to plug his heart pump in before he went to bed, according to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man’s wife, Kathleen Russell, stated that around 9 a.m. Jan. 10, she spoke to her husband, Timothy, in his bedroom inside the home. Kathleen Russell stated that her husband seemed fine when she spoke with him.

According to Russell, her husband plugged his heart pump into the electricity every night to keep his heart pumping while he is sleeping.

When Kathleen Russell woke up the next morning, she walked into her husband’s room and noticed he was bluish in color, cold to the touch and was not breathing. She said she noticed the cords to the heart pump were still lying on the dresser where he leaves them until he plugs them in.

The deputy noticed the pump on the man’s chest with multiple wires coming out of it.

“There were no signs of foul play, and it looked as if Timothy has passed away from not plugging his heart pump into the electricity,” the officer wrote in the report.

Timothy Russell was pronounced dead at 6:21 a.m.
