PC Bike is organizing a bicycle ride to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for the sixth year in a row.

The ride, part of Trek Bicycle Corp.'s national yearly Breast Cancer Awareness ride, begins 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at the bike shop at 132 Palm Coast Parkway N.E.

"It’s a ride for the whole family,” PC Bike Manager Kelly Scully said. “We’ll have people on cruisers, road bikes, mountain bikes."

The ride is not a race, Scully said.

“This is a very relaxed, casual way to raise money and ride with people,” she said. "People dress their bikes up in pink, or they wear pink. We have survivors who ride. Most everybody here knows someone who has had it. It has affected so many people.”

Cyclists can choose from three routes: a 10 mile bike-path ride along Waterfront Park and through Linear Park, a 20-mile ride along Waterfront Park to Highway A1A and Hammock Dunes Parkway, and a 25-mile road ride along Highway A1A and Colbert Lane.

On all of the routes, someone will ride at the front and the rear to make sure no one gets lost or left behind, Scully said. Cyclists of all ages are welcome, but helmets are mandatory for all.

Refreshments will be offered, and there will be prizes and goodie bags for people who register ahead. Cyclists can also enter Trek’s national raffle to win a Trek bicycle.

Registration is $30 per person or $100 for a family of four, and all of the proceeds go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Scully said. To register online, visit https://bcar-pcbike.eventbrite.com/. Forms can also be picked up at PC Bike.
